Every Time I Try and Download an App It Says to Sign in and Click Continue

When you attempt to sign into your Adobe ID from an Adobe application, often you are unable to sign in because the log in screen keeps popping up.

This issue is most often caused by restricted permissions on your computer for the following folders:

  • Adobe PCD
  • SLStore

To resolve this issue, follow the instructions for your operating system to set the appropriate permissions for the above folders:

macOS

Windows 10

Windows 8

Windows Vista/7

Windows XP Professional

Windows XP Home

Set permissions for both the SLStore and the Adobe PCD folders.

  1. Use the Finder to navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore.

  2. Control-click the folder and choose Get Info.

  3. Expand the Sharing & Permissions section.

  4. Click the lock icon in the lower-right corner. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted, and then click OK.

  5. Set permissions:

    • System: Read/write
    • Admin: Read/write
    • Everyone: Read/write

  6. Click the gear icon, and select Apply to enclosed items.

  7. Close the Get Info dialog box.

  1. Use the Finder to navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD.

  2. Control-click the folder and choose Get Info.

  3. Expand the Sharing & Permissions section.

  4. Click the lock icon in the lower-right corner. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted, and then click OK.

  5. Set permissions:

    • System: Read/write
    • Admin: Read only
    • Everyone: Read only
  6. Click the Gear icon, and select Apply to enclosed items.

  7. Close the Get Info dialog box.

To resolve the error in Windows 10, perform all steps below.

  1. Open a File Explorer window.

  2. Click the View tab, and then select Hidden items.

Perform this procedure two times, once each for the Adobe PCD and the SLStore folders.

  1. In File Explorer, right-click the Adobe PCD or the SLStore folder, and choose Properties.

  2. Click the Security tab, and then click Edit to set permissions:

    Adobe PCD

    • Administrators: Full control

    SLStore

    • Administrators: Full control
    • System: Full control
    • Users: Read and Special permissions

  3. Click OK to close the Permissions dialog box.

  4. Click Advanced in the Properties dialog box.

  5. Select Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object. Click OK, and then click Yes.

  6. ClickOK to close the SLStore or Adobe PCD Properties dialog box.

To resolve the error in Windows 8, perform all three steps below.

  1. Open a File Explorer window.

  2. Click the View tab, and then click Options.

  3. Deselect Use Sharing Wizard (Recommended) at the bottom of the Advanced settings section.

  4. Select Show hidden files, folders, and drives.

  1. In File Explorer, navigate to ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore.

  2. Right-click the SLStore folder and choose Properties.

  3. In the Attributes section, deselect the Read-only option.

  4. Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Confirm Attribute Changes dialog box.

Perform this procedure two times, once each for the Adobe PCD and the SLStore folders.

  1. In File Explorer, right-click the Adobe PCD or the SLStore folder, and choose Properties.

  2. Click the Security tab and set permissions:

To resolve the error in Windows Vista/7, perform all three steps below.

  1. Choose Organize > Folder and Search Options, and click the View tab.

  2. Deselect Use Sharing Wizard (Recommended) at the bottom of the Advanced settings section.

  1. As your computer restarts, but before Windows starts, press and hold F8.

  2. Select Safe Mode from the list of startup options.

  3. "Safe Mode" appears in each corner of the desktop. If it doesn't, then repeat steps 1–3.

  4. Log in to Windows as a user with administrative privileges.
